I Have a Dream…

As I reflect on the man, the pastor, the leader, and the legacy who is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I am beyond blessed to be just a glimpse of the dream that this amazing visionary had in mind. A vision and a cross that one man chose to bear for a purpose and calling higher than his own need to live!  While our world is still in desperate need of reconciliation in many areas of diversity, equality, and equity we cannot omit how much progress has been made thus far to bring his dream to Life in the land of the living!

“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me (my example).  For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”

~ Matthew 16:24-26 (ESV)

It is my prayer that we all become compelled to take up our own cross and carry the light of this vision of diversity and equality into our own individual spheres of influence each day. Whether on our jobs, in our schools, neighborhoods, and abroad….

It’s Time

Change is inevitable. As the saying goes, if we keep living the way we’ve been living, the result we get will always be the same (Steven Covey).

It’s Time to stand up for Love!  Purpose over politics! Patience over passiveness. Forgiveness over fault-finding. Reconciliation over racism. Justice over judgement. Discernment over demeaning discouragement. Wisdom over walls! Yeah I went there!

Loving people is not always easy, but there’s a God who’s mastered it and He loves us all the same.

“So God created mankind in his own image,
   in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them”

~ Genesis 1:27

When we get to know Him, we learn to view our world and everyone in it through His vantage point. A vantage point Dr. King must have caught his vision for his dream from.

“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!”

~ Romans 5:7-9

So, as I close out this post, I want to share with you a personal manifesto of mine:

I have a dream, that all people get to know the true and living God and discover their life’s purpose. By accomplishing this; all people will know the true reach of the love of Jesus Christ and be set Free from the spirit of hate and racism!

So it is imperative that we continue to serve and speak up for what is right and just in the sight of God because…

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

It’s Time to Stand Up and Stand Firm for what matters. What matters most at the end of the day is Love. Love God. Love People. Each one, teach one and little by little our world will be healed, healthy, and whole in time by faith.

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

Until next time….Write from the Heart….
