Forsake Perfect

Forsake Perfect

What is perfect anyway?

Is it how one dresses? Organizes their home? Or simply gets daily tasks done at home, work, or school?

Well whatever perfect is….I ain’t got it. Nor does anyone else. But I tell you what, I know somebody who does. He goes by the name Jesus. He is the author and finisher of perfect.

Now, I know my title says Forsake Perfect and that’s true. I say Forsake Perfect in the sense that we should forsake trying to be perfect. Forsake trying to be everything to everybody. Forsake the OCD of freaking out if one hair is out of place, one workout gets missed, one towel goes unfolded, or one notification doesn’t get noticed.

Not saying don’t do your best, or to not give it your all, just don’t beat yourself up about it. There’s always somebody, somewhere itching to find fault in us. Sometimes we know through confrontation and sometimes it’s hidden blame or criticisms through gossip.

Either way, don’t add to the known and the unknown by fueling the fire with negative self talk and personal self-doubt. That’s kind of the enemies plan to begin with. To cause self inflicted agony on God’s children.

Our enemy, the devil, wants us sooo wrapped up and distracted by the naysayers and the possibility of the “He said; she said” So much so that it can make us crazy if we aren’t careful and staying on watch. Keeping close guard on our hearts and minds.

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” ~ 1 Peter 5:8

A Beautiful Mess

We are all God’s handiwork. Made perfectly how He wanted to design us. Fearfully and wonderfully made in His image. Not the fleeting perfect image of trends and society status quo.

Even our broken pieces are perfectly crafted with His love in each and every one of them.

“If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That’s to prevent anyone from confusing God’s incomparable power with us. As it is, there’s not much chance of that. You know for yourselves that we’re not much to look at. We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken. What they did to Jesus, they do to us—trial and torture, mockery and murder; what Jesus did among them, he does in us—he lives! Our lives are at constant risk for Jesus’ sake, which makes Jesus’ life all the more evident in us. While we’re going through the worst, you’re getting in on the best!”

~ 2 Corinthians 4: 7

So when I say Forsake Perfect; forsake {Being} perfect and just {Be} you and set your eyes on the One who is Perfect instead.

Until next time…
